Is NEBOSH the right health and safety qualification for you?

Over 200,000 people hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. It’s the gold standard in health and safety qualifications. The National General Certificate is designed to reflect the needs of today’s employer, giving learners everything they need to know and do to make their workplace safer. Relevant to every workplace, the NEBOSH National General Certificate is ideal for managers, supervisors and anybody with health and safety management responsibilities. It’s also perfect for those embarking on a health and safety career.

The qualification covers:

  • How to effectively manage health and safety.
  • How to identify and control common workplace hazards.
  • How to measure if you’ve been successful.
  • The UK’s key legal requirements.

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Confidently carry out risk assessments.
  • Develop and implement a detailed action plan.
  • Manage and minimise workplace risks.
  • Support and develop their company’s health and safety culture.

Jamie Robinson TECH IOSH, Health and safety trainer at International Workplace, says:

"The course content is a real game changer and is relevant to every workplace. You will learn essential analytical and problem-solving skills that are immediately relevant to every industry. Whether you are on the corporate ladder, in a managerial role, or are a member of staff interested in health and safety, the NEBOSH General Certificate course will help you gain practical and transferable skills in any organisation as it gives you the tools to apply the key principles of occupational safety management. The NEBOSH qualification is a globally recognised and respected qualification and is fast becoming the minimum recruitment requirement."

Prior to the pandemic, the vast majority of our NEBOSH training was undertaken face-to-face in a traditional classroom setting, followed by a set examination at the end of the course. In 2020, we changed the delivery method to virtual classroom – and we’ve not looked back!

Virtual classroom is the name given to a form of blended learning that involves delivery using virtual meeting software, combined with other resources. Our virtual classroom courses are delivered using Microsoft Teams, which we've been using extensively since January 2019. The structure of the course is based around an interactive session taking place each week, which kicks off with a tutor-led session of approximately 90 minutes to introduce new subjects and set the agenda for the day.

Learners complete online exercises via our online academy and work together in small breakout groups, giving plenty of time to share knowledge and work through content at their own pace. Our expert tutors are always on-hand to provide support, on tutorial days and throughout the week, setting and giving feedback on project work, and providing guidance on exam technique.

Every student receives a 566-page full colour study guide through the post, to give them a comprehensive reference to accompany their studies.

In short, we provide you with everything you need, both to pass the exams and gain your NEBOSH National General Certificate, and to gain an appreciation of (and hopefully a passion for) health and safety practice and the benefits it delivers.
